Dear Advocates:
Please find attached 3 fact sheets which may assist current efforts in putting poverty on the provincial election agenda. The fact sheets were developed for the 'Moving Forward on Social Assistance Reform Working Session' held recently in Halifax. These fact sheets were used as resources in the refining of the 3 recommendations identified by women across the province as being necessary to the well being of women on income assistance.
We appreciate the public support shown for the recommendations as highlighted in letters to the editor, questions to local candidates and during public events.
We can all agree that women's poverty is a growing crisis in our province that must be addressed by our political leaders. In these final days before the election it is extremely important that we are all moved to action to push poverty on the political agenda. Please feel free to circulate these resources to fellow advocates.
Rene
