Position Description
Coordinator- Volunteer Management Program
Purpose of the Position:
Working with the Executive Director and our Volunteer Committee, the candidate would develop a sustainable Volunteer Management Program that could be carried out year round by the Volunteer Committee. The ultimate objective would be to improve the quality of our volunteers' experience with Habitat for Humanity.
The Volunteer Coordinator will:
a.. Assess effectiveness of current volunteer management process and make recommendations for changes
b.. Assess effectiveness of our volunteer database, Q-Member, and make recommendations to Executive Director and committee
c.. Develop a sustainable Volunteer Orientation program
a.. Information package
b.. Presentations/Orientation sessions
d.. Assess our volunteer webpage and make recommendations on how it can be used more effectively
a.. Develop a Volunteer Satisfaction and Recognition program to ensure that volunteers have a positive experience and are recognized for their contribution. Program should be able to be carried out by Executive Director and Volunteer committee.
b.. Maintain a database of donation contacts that can be accessed by volunteer committee for future donations
c.. Carry out appropriate recognition for donations
d.. With help of Volunteer Committee and Executive Director, plan annual volunteer recognition event and social events
a.. Document contacts and event planning procedures to be carried out by committee in subsequent years
a.. Submit a monthly report to the Executive Director and Volunteer Committee outlining activities, progress and issues arising
b.. Attend and participate in Volunteer Committee meetings
The applicant should have the following qualities and experience:
a.. Have good "people skills" and be comfortable working with volunteers
b.. Be familiar with community resources and potential sources of volunteers
c.. Be comfortable sharing the HFH mission with large and small groups of potential volunteers
d.. Understand the HFH philosophy and have the desire to promote it
e.. Be competent with various computer programs, especially database programs
f.. Be creative
Start Date: July 24, 2006
End Date: January 24, 2007
Work Hours: Monday through Friday, 9-5 Total 40 Hours per week
Compensation: $413/Week
*NOTE- Applicant must be a on EI as this is an HRSDC Job Creation Partnership
