Hi there. I wanted to introduce myself as the new administrative assistant.
I started in August and will be here until the end of March 2007. One of my
major roles is to make the CAH site something you want to bookmark and check
often for new information. As you know, Affordable Housing Week is October
16-20th and we have all the details on our website. Updates occur on an
almost daily basis at this point, so check back often. Have a look!

Here's a summary of events. This summary and the full event listings are on
the website.
. Monday, the 16th, 10-noon, at the CAH office. Launch of CAH "Many Faces
of Homelessness" Campaign - posters and educational pamphlet covering
research into homelessness in Nova Scotia and particularly HRM. Open to
everyone.
. Monday, the 16th, 6.30-9pm, King's College. An evening paneled
discussion "LET'S TALK HOUSING" discussing impact of affordable housing
options of individuals who have been homeless. Free event, no registration
is necessary.
. Tuesday, the 17th, 10am-3pm, there will be a march from Victoria Park to
the Legislature for recognition for the need for a Poverty Reduction
Strategy for Nova Scotia. Public is invited to participate, no registration
is necessary. Various events will be held across Canada marking the U.N.
declared INTERNATIONAL DAY for the ERADICATION OF POVERTY.
. Wednesday, the 18th, 8.30am-4.30pm, Four Points by Sheraton, 1496 Hollis
Street, Halifax. Affordable Housing Association of Nova Scotia hosts
"Opportunities and Directions: The Future of Housing in Nova Scotia". Cost
is $25 and registration is required - call CAH at 420-6026 or email

cheese will follow at the Argyle Bar and Grill.
. Thursday, the 19th, 9am-4pm, "Blueprint for Change: Community Housing
Budget", St. Matthews Hall. Facilitated by Michael Shapcott, leading
housing policy expert. Registration is required - call CAH at 420-6026 or

. Friday, October 20th, 10am-1pm, Alderney Landing, Dartmouth. "The Other
Home Show", showcasing affordable and supportive housing projects - a free
event open to the public where they can find information on many resources
and opportunities available to them to help make viable housing a reality.
Free event, no registration.
. Friday, October 20th, 1pm-3pm, a Walking Tour Exploring Dartmouth's
Housing and Service Providers. Meet at the main entrance of the Farmer's
Market, Alderney Landing. The tour will be an information and insider look
at several agencies that provide shelter and services in the community.
