Hello Members and Colleagues, The Steering Committee of Community Action on Homelessness is request you support to an important press conference organized for next Tues morning in support of a National Campaign for the Continuation of Federal Homelessness Funding. Currently the Supporting Community Partnership Initiatives (SCPI) program is slated to be discontinued as of March 31, 2007. Tuesday September 12th marks 200 days before the end of this program that has seen many housing units built and services and programs provided in Halifax and other parts of NS over the last 6 years. The end of this program marks the end of any dedicated Federal funding towards addressing homelessness.



Please come out and show your support for SCPI and concern over how issues of homelessness will be addressed in the future without continued dedicated funding programs. If you are unable to attend but would still like to express your support or concerns we welcome written submissions via fax or email and we can include them in our press kits.
 
Also on this day, other cities across Canada are planning their own events, please find the Toronto press release attached.
