Greetings,

The Affordable Housing Association of Nova Scotia (AHANS) is inviting
housing providers and advocates, representatives of government, and
concerned citizens to attend, Opportunities and Directions: The Future of
Housing in Nova Scotia, a day-long event planned for October 18th

in conjunction with CAH Housing Week, October 16 - 20th 2006.

AHANS will welcome Steve Pomeroy, Focus Consulting Inc. to lead the day's
conversations that will provide the foundations of a position paper for
AHANS. The paper will outline potential opportunities and directions for
housing and serve as a document to stimulate broader debate across the
association membership, with levels of government, and among all Nova
Scotians.

Mr. Pomeroy has over 25 years of experience in policy research, strategic
analysis, program implementation and market research. The substantive focus
of much of his work has been housing and urban development. He has worked
in the municipal level as an urban planner (1980-82) the non-profit sector
in co-operative housing development (1983-83), and from 1984-1994 held a
variety of senior positions with Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation.

He is currently completing a paper on behalf of Canadian Housing and Renewal
Association into what Canadian finance professionals feel a housing tax
credit program should look like.

The mission of The Affordable Housing Association of Nova Scotia (AHANS) is
to promote and support access to decent and affordable housing throughout
Nova Scotia. The event Opportunities and Directions: The Future of Housing
in Nova Scotia is an opportunity for you to join AHANS and to add your
expertise to develop a united position that represents the housing issues in
both rural and urban Nova Scotia. The event is also an opportunity to take
part in the AHANS Annual General Meeting and to learn about other
opportunities to work with colleagues to advance everyone's right to decent
and affordable housing. Nominations for the AHANS Board are also being
accepted.

The day's agenda is included. Please take the time to complete and submit
the registration form to guarantee your participation in the event. The
registration fee is $25.00 or free with an AHANS membership. Please indicate
on the registration form if you would like to be counted as an AHANS member.
Registration forms must be received by October 13, 2006.
