[CAH] Lobby effort to support the Community Action on Homelessness Office

Hi all 

I am writing to ask your support in ensuring the Federal Government is aware
that in Halifax we need the continuaton of the CAH office

Presently the federal government is in consultation with the provinces to
determine the delivery mechanism for the new "Homelessness Partnerships
Initiative"

This progam will replace the Supporting Community Partnerships Initiative 

Our concern is that both the current Federal Government and the current Nova
Scotia Government are inclined to exclude community as equal partners in
decisions surronding the expenditure of funds allocated to address
homelessness. Both governments take a "consultation" approach rather than a
"equal" partnership approach.

We are appreciative of the support from the departments of Community
Services and the department of Health for many of the programs initiated
over the past several years through the SCPI. 

We strongly believe however priorities of community are better achieved
through collaboration. 

Politicans are impacted by NIMBYism in a much more direct way than community
organizations. This alone would seriously impact decisions on projects going
forward.

We strongly urge that you take the time to express your views to the federal
government and reference points identified in the attachments included in
this email
