Client Support Coordinator (Part Time)
The Stepping Stone Association

 The Stepping Stone Association is a user directed non-profit organization
based in Halifax that provides support services to current and former sex
trade workers, and youth at risk of becoming involved in the sex trade.

The Association embraces the philosophy that all individuals have the right
to self-determination, safety and access to support services.  Stepping
Stone incorporates into its service delivery the knowledge that individuals
who work as sex trade workers may choose to continue this occupation.
Stepping Stone does not interfere with or attempt to stop individuals from
engaging in the sex trade. We help to make life choices as safe as possible.

Stepping Stone is recruiting a Client Support Coordinator who has
demonstrated success working with at-risk communities and individuals. The
successful applicant will facilitate the morning activities of our
non-residential house with expertise, compassion, understanding and a
commitment to confidentiality while gaining the trust and respect of those
who access our services. 

Duties & Responsibilities:

The Client Support Coordinator provides supportive counselling and advocacy,
distributes donations and harm reduction materials, conducts community
referrals and ensures the safety and well being of clients and staff. A
complete job description is available upon request. 

Education & Experience:

.        Bachelor's degree in social science or a community college diploma
in community services or an equivalent acceptable to the employer.

.        Comprehensive knowledge of community resources, programs and
services.

.        Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

.        Minimum three years work experience within the non-profit sector.

.        Background working with sensitivity issues and at-risk populations
is essential. 

.        Previous experience working with sex trade workers a definite
asset.

.        Proficient use of computers and software including Microsoft Office
applications

Salary is $15 per hour, 20 hours per week (9am - 1pm, Monday to Friday) with
opportunity for advancement.

Hello,

My name is Ruthmarie Adams. I am a social work student and I am doing my
field placement at the Eating Disorders Action Group (EDAG). EDAG 
is a community based, charitable organization dedicated to promoting healthy
body image and self esteem and to supporting individuals who experience
disordered eating. For my field placement I am developing and facilitating
an information session for parents who are interested in learning about
eating disorders and/or supporting children and adolescents through their
eating disorders.

The identified goals of this information session will be:
1. Provide information for parents, address possibility of starting a parent
peer support group  

2. Collect data as to what parents need if we are to support them. (After
this data is collected EDAG will write a brief paper including info session 

    findings and send it to Department of Health, Health Canada etc.)

This will be held at:
