Building Community
It takes you and me: Working Together Towards Housing for all.

CAH Fall Workshop 2007
Tuesday October 16th, 2007
				      8:30am - 3:30pm
Captain Spry Community Centre
10 Kidston Road, Spryfield

Please join Community Action on Homelessness for a conversation around
creating partnerships for sustainable housing solutions. Bruce Pearce,
Community Development Worker for St. John's Community Advisory Committee on
Homelessness and Sheldon Pollett, Executive Director for Choices for Youth
will share inspiring stories of building partnerships and collaboration
between provincial and municipal government, shelters, service providers,
housing organizations and faith-based organizations to increase housing in
the city of St. John's, NF. We will finish the day with a participatory
conversation looking at what lessons we can take from St. John's and from
our own experiences to understand how we can build more effective
partnerships to reduce homelessness in Halifax.

The day will be facilitated by

Sera Thompson who creates spaces for collaboration, innovation and committed
action by organizing, designing and hosting change processes, strategic
dialogues, conferences, networks, best practice and innovation exchanges,
communities of practice, conflict transformations, and leadership trainings.
Working on the assumption that there is tremendous untapped potential in
every group, Sera supports organizations, communities and leaders to create
successful and sustainable futures by awakening collective clarity and wise
action. Her role is to achieve effective action and results through helping
to uncover the inherent intelligence, synergy, engagement and effectiveness
in any system.

In addition to her international work, Sera facilitated and lead initiatives
focused on poverty and homelessness reduction from 2001-2002 at the Greyston
Foundation in Yonkers, NY (www.greyston.org).
