International Women's Day Rally and March
Saturday March 8th, 2008 at Noon - Parade Square in Halifax
International Women's Day (IWD) is a time for women around the world to
commemorate their struggles and celebrate their achievements. The United
Nations formally proclaimed March 8 International Women's Day in 1975. The
roots of IWD, though, can be traced back to the struggles of women workers
in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.
This year, the Canadian Federation of Students - Nova Scotia, the Canadian
Labour Congress, the Canadian Union of Public Employees, and the Nova Scotia
Federation of Labour, are holding a Rally and March to celebrate
International Women's Day.
